The health questions
The health questions are seven yes-or-no questions that take about a minute. They decide whether Axial Fit offers you all-out training. They are the one thing you must answer before an all-out or brisk session starts; everything else in Axial Fit works without them.
What they open
All-out work means going as hard as you can in short bursts. Sessions that wait for the health questions include:
- Tabata, Intervals and REHIT,
- brisk cardio sessions, including the jump rope,
- the hard tests, such as Cindy and the 10-minute row or bike.
Walks, easy cardio, EMOM, strength workouts and the plank test do not need them. Until you answer, these sessions show Health check first, and the row links to the questions.
Answering them
- Open the page called A one-minute health check. It appears during setup, at the Start of a session that needs it, and under More, then Starting level & readiness.
- Answer each question Yes or No. If you are not sure, answer yes.
- Tap See my result.
The questions ask about heart conditions, chest pain, fainting or dizziness, unusual shortness of breath, diabetes, kidney disease or uncontrolled blood pressure, pregnancy or a recent birth, and recent surgery, hospital stays or ongoing treatment.
During setup you can tap Skip for now. Today then shows one line saying your health questions are still to do.
If every answer is no
All-out training is open to you for 12 months. Near the end, Today reminds you, and one quick question renews it: No, nothing changed or Yes, something changed. If anything changes before then, take the check again from Starting level & readiness.
If any answer is yes
That does not mean anything is wrong. It means all-out training should wait until a doctor, nurse practitioner or physiotherapist says vigorous exercise is fine for you. Everything else carries on as normal.
Once a clinician has told you it is fine:
- Tap A clinician has cleared me.
- Tick that a clinician has told you vigorous exercise is fine for you, and enter the date you were told.
- Tap Save.
A clinician's clearance also lasts 12 months. It does not renew itself: near the end, take the check again.
If your coach confirms you already train hard
A coach can confirm that you have been training at this intensity recently without symptoms. You then see "Your coach has confirmed you already train at this intensity." Tap Continue to accept it, or Answer the questions instead. It counts only while that coach coaches you. A coach's confirmation never replaces a clinician's when your answers called for one.
What the health questions are not
They are not a medical assessment. Axial Fit does not check your answers and does not diagnose anything. Your answers are your own statement.
Stop at once and get medical help for chest pain or pressure, faintness, severe or unusual shortness of breath, new neurological symptoms or severe sudden pain. Hard sessions show one line under End as a reminder: "Chest pain, faintness or feeling unwell: stop now."
Who sees your answers
Only you. A coach never sees your answers. If a clinician needs to clear you, your coach sees only that you are not cleared for hard intervals, never why. No staff page shows them.
The wall sit has its own questions
The wall sit is a separate option with three readiness questions of its own, under Isometric readiness in Starting level & readiness. A clear health check does not open it.
