Swapping a movement
You can swap any movement for another that fits your equipment, for one session or from now on. Swap before a workout from Today's card, between movements during a workout, or set a lasting choice in Starting level & readiness.
Swap before you start
- On Today's card, tap the movement's name. Its card opens.
- Pick a movement from the list. These cover the same pattern, such as another squat or another pull.
- Or choose from Any other movement to pick from any pattern.
- Tap This session only for today, or From now on to keep the choice.
The same card can drop a movement: Remove this session only or Remove from now on. You can leave the weight empty and it is worked out for you.
Swap during a workout
Changes happen between movements, so finish the movement you are on first.
- On the movement's card, tap Swap under its name.
- Pick a movement from the list, or one from Any other movement.
- Tap This session only or From now on.
Cancel returns to the workout with nothing changed. To leave the movement out today, tap Skip this movement today. A skipped movement does not count as progress.
If you paired two movements, finish the pair before changing the rest of the workout.
This session only or From now on
- This session only is a one-off. Use it when the gear is taken or you want a change today. Your next session goes back to the usual movement.
- From now on remembers the choice at your saved training place, for future workouts and weekly plans.
Set a lasting choice
- Open More, then Starting level & readiness.
- Find What do you prefer to use?
- Choose a movement for each pattern and tap Use this.
If a movement you chose stops fitting your equipment later, Axial Fit uses another one that fits, and keeps your choice for when it fits again.
Which movements are offered
The list shows movements that fit the equipment saved for your training place, plus any gear you added for today. Your saved choice comes first, then movements that use weights or bands, because those are easier to progress. A movement that was paused after a pain report is not offered.
Each option says whether it starts with a short weight-finding ramp or shows your last result on it. A movement you have done before picks up from your own saved weight and reps.
If nothing else fits, the page says so: "No other movement in this pattern fits the equipment saved for this location." Add gear in your equipment to open more options.
What a swap does to your progress
Every movement keeps its own history. Swapping to a new movement does not carry the old one's weight across, and swapping back picks up where you left off. See When the weight goes up.
If the movement hurts
A swap is not the way to report pain. Use Something hurt? under the card so the movement stops for today and is never read as progress. See Saving a set.
If your coach set the workout
You can still swap or shorten a movement from its card. Your coach sees what you did.
